Prayers to St. Michael

The prayer to St. Michael of Pope Leo XIII

On October 13, 1884 , Pope Leo XIII, I experience a horrible sight. After celebrating the Eucharist, was consulting on certain issues with his cardinals in the private chapel of the Vatican when he suddenly stopped at the foot of the altar and fell into a reality that only he saw. His face had an expression of horror and shock. He went pale. Something was very hard seen. Suddenly, he joined up his hand as a greeting and went to his private study. They followed him and asked: What happens to your Holiness? Do you feel sick?
He replied: "Oh, that terrible images I have been allowed to see and hear!", And locked himself in his office.

What did Leo XIII? "I saw demons and heard their creaking, their profanity, their taunts. I heard the chilling voice of Satan challenged God, saying that he could destroy the Church and bring the world to hell if given enough time and power. Satan asked God permission to take 100 years to to influence the world as never before done so. " (this more than clear what he meant with that of the last century as today, especially from the 60 and up).

Leo XIII also could understand that if the devil could not fulfill its purpose in the time allowed, would suffer a humiliating defeat. saw San Miguel Archangel come and throw Satan with his legions into the abyss of hell.

After half an hour, call the Secretary for the Congregation of Rites. I hand him a sheet of paper and ordered him to send it to all the world's bishops mandated indicating that it had to be recited after every Mass, the prayer that he had written there.

Prayer

"San Miguel Archangel, defend us in battle
.

Be our protection against
the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and you
Prince of the heavenly host, cast into hell
the power of God and Satan

all evil spirits who wander through the world
for the ruin of souls.
Amen. "

(Although not required, it can be very profitably continue the practice of praying this prayer after the Mass as it was before Vatican Council II conc.)
